A lot of people like to go outside and play sports, but not everyone knows which is the best sport. Some outdoor sports have long seasons that are played in the fall, winter, and spring. Others are played all year round with a break during the summer months.
Which do you prefer? Do you want one that is seasonal or all-year-round? Would it be better for your family budget if you could play outdoors more than just once a week? These are some things to think about before deciding on what’s best for your family!
Long season sports: Football, soccer, basketball.
All year round sports: Hockey, lacrosse, baseball/softball.
Which sport is more expensive in terms of equipment and cost?
The outdoor sport that is most expensive in terms of equipment and cost is golf. Golf requires a lot of gear including clubs, balls, tees, baskets for putting green, shoes (and they are very specific to the type, of course, you're playing), gloves, and more. You also have to pay membership fees at different levels depending on where you're playing. Additionally, you need to pay for your green fees and cart rental at the course if you want that option.
In contrast, a sport like running requires only shoes and clothes suitable for the activity (although it's not recommended without some kind of water bottle). You can run barefoot or with sneakers on any road as long as you're not breaking any laws. You can run for miles without ever having to pay a single cent or spend any time waiting in line.
The cheapest type of outdoor sport is walking because all that's needed are shoes and clothes that accommodate the activity, as well as some form of a water bottle (although it's not recommended). Unlike running, walking doesn't require any type of fee or equipment. You can walk anywhere you want as long as it's legal to do so and without ever sacrificing the option of a drink that will give your body what it needs to perform at its best for hours on end.
I recommend running because while I'm not sure if they've actually done any research, I've heard that it's a great way to get in shape. You can go out and do your best without ever having to worry about over-training or under-performing due to improper hydration.
There are many popular sports for outdoor enthusiasts including bicycling, hiking, swimming, and kayaking. All of these activities require an initial investment of money, time, and training.
